Flowly Launches New Membership Options, Broadening Access to Science-Backed Resources for Chronic Pain Management
The introduction of a community membership and family plan will allow Flowly to better support the chronic illness community beyond their relaxation training method
Los Angeles, CA, Feb 15, 2023 – Flowly, a NIH-backed app for pain and anxiety management, today announced two new membership tiers to better meet the needs of the chronic illness community – a community membership that provides access to Flowly’s community of chronic pain warriors and a family plan that enables families to share a subscription to their relaxation training program.
Flowly’s main offering remains their at-home relaxation training program that uses the Flowly app, a phone-based virtual reality headset and a real-time biosensor to convert biometric data such as heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) into visualizations in virtual experiences that allow people to learn how to take control of their nervous system. However, to broaden the support provided to their members and the chronic pain community beyond their relaxation training method, Flowly has expanded their online and in-app resources to focus on community support and every day tools to help address pain and anxiety. The new pricing tiers offer different levels of access to Flowly’s resources based on their needs and goals.

The community membership, which is offered at $4.99/month or $39.99/year, provides a low-cost option with unlimited access to the essential resources within the Flowly app that will teach users different tools to take back control of their health. These resources include ‘Bubbles’ (small support groups) and health seminars led by the Flowly team, in addition to breathing guides, humming guides, educational blog posts and tutorials. This membership prioritizes community building, peer support and learning the basics of pain management through exercises that are not only hardware-agnostic/app-based, but also science backed.
“After talking to both our Flowly community and the broader chronic pain community, we were still getting the impression that the chronic illness community craved more community and resources to better take control of their health,”
said Celine Tien, founder and CEO of Flowly.
“The Flowly Community Membership provides a low cost, low barrier entry into our daily support groups, health seminars and workshops, and events— all geared towards teaching you how to take back control of your autonomic nervous system so you can feel better each day.”

The family plan, which is offered at $359.99/year, allows for up to four separate accounts to be created under one subscription. Those who enroll in a family plan will receive one Flowly kit, which includes the phone-based VR headset and biofeedback sensor, to be shared among the users. The family plan also comes with unlimited access to the resources included in the community membership, in addition to:
1. Physician and therapist-led events and workshops
2. Relaxation training sessions with biofeedback (requires sensor, but can be done with or without the VR headset)
3. Call and text support from Flowly Health Guides
“The family plan is something our community has been requesting for a while. Chronic pain doesn’t just affect adults - it's a bio-psycho-social disease that can impact people of all ages, whether it’s through stress, anxiety, loneliness, trouble sleeping and more,”
continued Tien. “Our hope with the family plan is that parents and their children can embark on their health journey together and support each other throughout the process.”
Two new physician-led seminars coming up in the new year include “Addressing Family Mental Health” with Dr. Jamie Arnoff and “Addressing Micro Trauma” with Dr. Pierre Etienne, interested members can sign up here. There will be community Bubbles following each within the Flowly app. In the meantime, members can participate in Bubbles that focus on winding down for sleep, art therapy and journaling.
As a platform for people with chronic illness who are seeking to take control of their health, the new pricing tiers are aligned with Flowly’s mission to empower chronic illness warriors to feel and live better each day. One of Flowly’s key differentiators is their inside-out approach to health. Flowly’s virtual-reality and biofeedback sessions teach users how to self-regulate their autonomic nervous system, and their community centered on virtual workshops, small support groups, content, and even physical goods provides an important layer of external support.
